Preprints
Authors who have submitted or plan to submit their articles to the Indonesian Institute of Science and Technology Research (IISTR) may post their preprints in the following locations:
IISTR does not consider this to be a form of prior publication. However, the editorial office must be notified prior to the submission (e.g., through the cover letter/letter to the editor). On the preprint's side, the following statement must be included on the initial screen:
"This work has been submitted to the IISTR for possible publication. The article may be published in IISTR journal without notice, after which this version may no longer be accessible."
Upon acceptance of the article by IISTR, the author must replace the posted preprint article with either (1) the full citation to the IISTR work with the DOI, or (2) the accepted version of the article with the DOI and appropriate citation to the corresponding IISTR journal. No other changes may be made to the accepted article.
Author-submitted Articles
Authors may share or post their author-submitted article in the following ways:
Upon acceptance, the previously posted article must be replaced with either (1) the complete citation to the IISTR work with the DOI, or (2) the accepted version of the article with the DOI and appropriate citation to the corresponding IISTR journal. No other changes may be made to the accepted article.
Accepted and Published Articles
Unless otherwise noted, all articles in IISTR journals are published with a CC-BY-SA license. This license allows reusers to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon the material in any medium or format, so long as attribution is given to the creator. The license allows for commercial use. If reusers remix, adapt, or build upon the material, reusers must license the modified material under identical terms.
Under the premise of legal publishing, the corresponding author is required to grant a publishing license to IISTR on behalf of all authors (see the copyright section below). Note that IISTR is a Crossref member, and all IISTR journals comply with The Initiative for Open Citations (I4OC) for open citations.
Once the submitted paper is accepted for publication, authors will be invited to fill in an electronic statement letter form. If the form hasn't been received along with the final revised manuscript, the publication of the manuscript may be postponed.
Manuscripts submitted for publication must be original, previously unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. If previously published materials written by others have to be used, the copyright owner's permission must be obtained prior to submission. The author takes responsibility for checking whether the material submitted is subject to copyright or ownership rights. To avoid delay in publication, it would be better for authors to start obtaining all the permissions as early as possible. If in any doubt about the copyright, the authors are encouraged to apply for permission. IISTR Publications cannot publish material from other publications without permission. If any unpermitted material used in the article is found, the article will be rejected or removed from our website, even if it has already been published.
Appeals
If authors want to appeal a decision, they are required to contact us via email at editor@journal.iistr.org and explain in detail the reasons for any complaints or the appeal. Appeals will only be considered when a reviewer or editor is thought to have a significant error or bias or when the objectivity is compromised by a documented competing interest. While under appeal, the manuscript remains under formal consideration and hence should not be submitted for consideration elsewhere. Usually, the processing of appeals will take no more than 15 work days. IISTR has the right to make a final decision, and second appeals will not be considered. After the processing of appeals is completed, the manuscript can be submitted to other publishers. Appeals regarding any published materials will only be accepted within 12 months from the first publication date.
Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement
By submitting a manuscript to IISTR, as an author, you agree to comply with the following Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement. This statement is based on COPE's Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors.
Duties / Responsibilities of Authors
Duties / Responsibilities of Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board Member(s)
Duties / Responsibilities of Reviewers
Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted Technology
At submission, the journal should require authors to disclose whether they used artificial intelligence (AI)-assisted technologies (such as Large Language Models (LLMs), chatbots, or image creators) in the production of submitted work. Authors who use such technology should describe, in both the cover letter and the submitted work, how they used it. Chatbots (such as ChatGPT) should not be listed as authors because they cannot be responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of the work, and these responsibilities are required for authorship. Therefore, humans are responsible for any submitted material that included the use of AI-assisted technologies. Authors should carefully review and edit the result because AI can generate authoritative-sounding output that can be incorrect, incomplete, or biased. Authors should not list AI and AI-assisted technologies as an author or co-author, nor cite AI as an author. Authors should be able to assert that there is no plagiarism in their paper, including in text and images produced by the AI. Humans must ensure there is appropriate attribution of all quoted material, including full citations.
Copyright
Unless otherwise noted, all articles published by IISTR will be distributed under the terms and conditions of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC-BY-SA). So anyone is allowed to copy, distribute, and transmit the article on the condition that the original article and source are correctly cited. Authors retain all copyright interest, or it is retained by other copyright holders, as appropriate and agrees that the manuscript remains permanently open access in IISTR's site under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC-BY-SA). IISTR shall have the right to use and archive the content for the purpose of creating a record and may reformat or paraphrase (with authors' consent) to benefit the display of the record.
Rights for Publisher
To protect the rights and interests of both parties, the IISTR requires a license that clearly stipulates our rights and the specific rights retained by authors. We ask the corresponding author to grant this license to IISTR on behalf of all authors. Authors shall grant the IISTR the right of first publication. In addition, IISTR agrees to publish the manuscript and has the right:
(1) To publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and store the manuscript;
(2) To translate the manuscript into other languages;
(3) To create adaptations, reprints, and create summaries, extracts, and/or abstracts of the manuscript;
(4) To create any other derivative work(s) based on the manuscript, given that no plagiarism/ethical infringement is conducted;
(5) To include electronic links from the manuscript to third-party material;
(6) To license any third party to do any or all of the above (with the authors' consent);
(7) To authorize IISTR to take legal proceedings in the copyright owner's name and on the author(s)' behalf if the author(s)' believe that a third party is infringing or is likely to infringe copyright in the manuscript.
Rights for Authors
Authors are allowed to use their own articles for both commercial and non-commercial purposes without seeking permission from IISTR. Authors retain copyright and full publishing rights without restrictions, including:
(1) Post a PDF of their article;
(2) Make copies of their article for both personal and commercial use. This includes the contributor's own teaching purposes;
(3) Republish part or all of the article in a book or other publication edited by the author, provided that no self-plagiarism is made. Please note that completely reuse work that the authors have already published without making appropriate changes is considered as self-plagiarism;
(4) Use the illustrations and research data in their own future works;
(5) Use the article in course packs in the authors' institution;
(6) Use the work for further research and presentations at meetings;
(7) Reuse all or part of the published manuscript in other works for either commercial or non-commercial purposes;
(8) Use their own material in other publications, provided that the IISTR journal is acknowledged as the original place of publication. Although not mandatory, written and in advance notification to the IISTR editorial office is recommended.
